They have been instrumental in securing permanent legislative protection for some of Oregon's most precious landscapes.
Arts: Noah Kleiman, Executive Director of NW Digital Art Kids/The Old Library Studio, an organization that puts creative technology in the hands of young artists. The Old Library Studio is a recording studio offering young people from a broad range of musical and non-musical backgrounds the opportunity to learn to compose and record their own music with technical and artistic guidance provided by staff and professional mentors.
Community: Rodney Bender, Garden Program Manager, Growing Gardens, an organization that promotes food gardening for improved nutrition, health, and self-reliance by providing mentoring, supplies, and education to build and maintain home food gardens for low-income households and community gardens for organization and youth.
Health & Social Welfare: Shelagh Johnson, Youth HIV Prevention Coordinator, Cascade AIDS Project, providing education, resources, and support for those struggling with and at risk for HIV/AIDS.
Youth: Darren Linder, Mentor, Friends of the Children, matches kindergarten-age at-risk children with professional mentors who stay with them until they graduate from high school.
